Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Brave API key?

No. Use your ScrapeBadger API key in the X-API-Key header. The API returns public Brave Search data without a Brave account.

Which rich results are included?

Web search preserves FAQs, forum discussions, inline videos and related searches when Brave includes them. Rich blocks vary by query. Generated AI answers are outside this API.

How does pagination work?

Use page=1, then follow next_page while has_next is true. Pages follow Brave’s native boundaries; count limits the returned rows within a page. A smaller count does not move the next page’s starting point.

Can I localize the results?

Choose a country for regional results and a UI language for labels and displayed dates. UI language does not guarantee that every result is written in that language. The free locales endpoint lists the supported choices.

Are empty or failed searches charged?

Failed requests and verified empty result lists are not charged. The response keeps query alteration and search-operator metadata so you can see when Brave relaxes a query.
