Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Yelp API key?

No. Use your ScrapeBadger API key in the X-API-Key header. The API returns the public Yelp search results a visitor sees, without a Yelp account or Places API plan.

How many businesses can one search return?

Ten businesses per page and up to 11 pages (110 businesses) for one search. Follow next_page while has_next_page is true. To reach more businesses, narrow the location, category or filters.

How are ads handled?

Sponsored listings come back in a separate ads list with their own positions, so the organic ranking in results is exactly what Yelp ranks.

Which filters can I use?

Category alias, price levels 1–4, sort by recommended, rating or review count, and refinements such as delivery, takeout and reservations. Every filter is checked as applied by Yelp; one Yelp does not offer for a search returns an error instead of wider results.

Are empty or failed searches charged?

No. Failed requests and searches with no matching businesses cost nothing. Business detail pages and reviews are not part of this API.
